Going Home

Going home, it has all changed
The big seat where he sat, empty
My own eyes mock me
My own heart denies the truth

The dim flash of time
Faded memories present
Vivid once more
Reliving the past again

The smell of tobacco
Still lingering, reviving more memories
Childhood, the good old days
Tainted by the years

The dim feeling of emptiness
Filling me, as I recollect
The homeyness now dead
With the realization of loneliness here

Time has not played its role
In preserving my life
As I remembered it
Letting me live a fantasy.
