Daze 6
My Father
(Dedicated to Joseph H.D. Lee)
A simple life
With little dough
Who was to know
What the future would hold
A long journey
Far from home
In a place of dreams
His was reshaped
A slow start
Seemingly fruitless climb
On greased rungs
Gaining no ground
But never die
Never give up
Faith in himself
Faith in God
Constant persistence
And minimum wage
Brought some focus
Found some love
Then a light in the dark
Possible fortune
With a strong hand
Guiding the path
But leave the worry
The unwanted stress
The hard times
And an apartment address
Not at this time
Not moving yet
But now a son
And soon there was another
The hardest times
Money mighty low
Diapers and formula
Is where it all goes
All of this unbearable weight
On willing shoulders
Carried on with pride
Even when the car would die
Hard work and determination
Redefined by one man
Lead him on a path of greatness
In the hearts of all who love him
Demanding respect and admiration
This mighty climb through life
But modesty and a big heart
never let him change a bit
With an empire of love
Of trust and care
Who more deserves honoring
Than this man, here.
