Comtemplative 20
Christmas Vision
A vision I had
On Christmas Day
While I nodded,
Asleep in my chair
It was Christmas
But still yet to come
In a time I'm not sure of
In a city unknown
Decorated with lights
Pre-designed, beautiful
All around were people walking here and there
Buying gifts for one another
I came across this building
All bordered up
Showing it's age, and much neglect
No one knew the symbolism
What the building was
Yet they were many
Then night came
In a house, I was
The family gathered round a tree
It struck me at once
This must be Christmas Eve
The birth of Jesus
But the only words spoken
By people that night
Was Seasons Greetings
It seemed mighty strange
There was no nativity scene
No remembrance of our savior
As a matter of fact
I don't recall seeing anything
Dealing with the true meaning of Christmas
For it seemed
Some years back
Religion was outlawed
The reason it seemed
Was that everybody forgot
About the true meaning of Christmas
Until there came the time
When it became weak
And their faith faded
I then woke up
Frightened in my chair
As I remembered it was a dream
Much relieved I was
When I came to my senses
As I pondered the dream
If Jesus would come from Heaven
On Christmas day
Do we still care, believe.
