Dreams are like windows
Windows that open unto one's mind
Windows on a vast wall
Extending always
In all directions
With a bright blue sky above
Filled with clouds
That have a life of their own
Taking shape
As one's fantasies
A breeze blowing
Ever steady
Keeping the flow
As dreams take place
Each window opens
Into different dreams
Realities unknown
Ever interchanging
Dreams are intertwined
Into the past, present, and future
To form a source of life
Into different places
Different times
Different dreams
To dream is to live To walk down the road To greet and meet To love another as thy self To practice what is peace To forgive all grievances To give up our weapons To share what we have To all in sight "In the Light of the Sun on the Beach" To see the brilliant light To see the bright light To hear the voice Feel the water To hear the birds To see the light To write is to live To write is to speak To write is to dream To write is to form To write is to show To write is a gift Once upon a time Once upon a time Once upon a time Once upon a time In the midst of a garden A flower above others In the midst of a garden The sun shines The setting sun The life of the sun The setting sun The setting sun I used to come To watch the colors To feed off the sun's life The beauty of the sunset The colors The pulsing starts to slow The sun is almost gone The stars above The stars above The stars above The stars above The stars above The stars above The stars above Leah, Leah Leah's beauty Beauty that these eyes Leah's eyes Bright blue Leah's hair Leah's love for me My love for Leah My love continues to grow Leah, Leah Love, love Love, love Love of mine For the love I have For your love I love you For when we stand together For now and forever In years ago A love that A love that is endless The man had a mind He worshiped She was the world to him "My darling The man and his beloved The man and his beloved I love you like I love you like I love you like My love, I love Feelings that I want to explore For when I am with you Lightning crashes Dark dim clouds roll in Lightning crashes People scurry Lightning crashes Life is precious Life is to be cherished Life is to be long Life is most pure Because it is a gift Life, not a choice One night The child's wish A wish as simple A wish not of new A wish for winter A wish that was made "Star, star, in the night sky The child sat and stared The star high above John Qlempsey was a man among men John got up a six John worked a normal job John worked like everybody else He got into his ordinary car John got home John then watched the news As John awoke John left at his usual time John arrived at work John went to eat his typical lunch John got into his car He did as he was told John did no work John learned much As John headed home John got home around eight John erratically thought John found a purpose Now John went to bed John awoke As John looked around John ensured them He was called back John left as normal John arrived As his friends arrived He needed a convincing plot John then told them John pours the whisky John raises his glass in a toast John then drinks The whisky runs rampant John drops his glass John falls flat on his face John lies there From the time of diapers As the years passed In no time at all What thanks we owe Our mothers sent us off We entered this flow of life We have our distinction Our mothers were there "My baby has grown up Our father's boast As we remember We owe all that we are As I think of the time The hustle and bustle The house, ever gleaming The Christmas Tree, ever shining The smell of the tree Seeing the snow on the ground Darkness takes over To look out the window To feel the warmth To listen to the fire To gather together No other vision I am here What is this I speak For I forgot There once was a man For the poor man For this man was a man One day his mouth His anger grew And in a flash So before you speak There was a fellow His whole life While searching for food To his luck He gave them their child They knew he was a bum They gave him all he wanted Life was grand He found the life He was respected By no time at all Now the family The man of the hour "I am The Raven" Once upon a midnight dreary, while I flew by, weak and weary, Ah, his attention I am entreating as he rose, his heart speeding And then began the uncertain rustling of each satin curtain Presently my laugh grew stronger; he hesitated then no longer, Deep into that darkness peering, long he stood there staring, fearing, Back into the chamber turning, all my hatred within me burning, Open fully he flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter, The man stood there upon me staring, as a smile was there, escaping Much I marveled this curious fool to see him fearing evermore, He continued staring, as I continued sitting, I only muttered Startled at my reply so sternly spoken as the stillness broken But I sat there beguiling his fancy into smiling, This he sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing Then the air grew denser, her perfume from an unseen censer "Raven!" he said, "thing of evil!- raven still, if bird or devil!- "Raven!" he said, "thing of evil- raven still, if bird or devil!" "Be that word your sign departing, bird or fiend," he shrieked, upstarting- And the man, never budging, still is sitting, as I am sitting For his will I surely broken, if his ramblings gave some token- There is a river Back behind the house Many times Morning or night For when I was there Not of the world The river flowing Through the seasons To the time A time of peace Nature co-exists When I experience this Of total peace and tranquillity Life so rewarding I find myself To be one So relaxing Nothing is compared When the trip ends I await my journey A man who went To live forever He searched his life Far and wide Through Africa He followed legends He sought the wisest of men He read books Nothing he found His search turned futile But little did By memories Is peace a word Troops have been sent Why must a country Why do we help Do intentions matter Do we have the right Across the Sea War among brothers War for what What right Is this our concern We get hurt Whose decision Or the books Maybe troops equal peace But who is to decide We have committees To decide when So I say again Days shorten The temperature drops I sit by the window Little did I know The snow fell The streets ever filled Through all of time The Earth song It contains One will know One must listen The sounds Then one hears To appear in a field No heat is felt A thought entered my mind A tall tree was there A vision I had The world is In turmoil The pollution and chemicals Nothing did put into focus I know the feeling But overcome we must A vision I had It was Christmas In a city unknown All around were people I came across this building No one knew Then it was night It struck me at once But the only words spoken It seemed mighty strange As a matter of fact What I found out from For it seemed The reason it happened, I also found Until there came the time I then woke up Much relieved I was If Jesus would come As I sit I think about In the grass I feel that Only to see I only see There seems no escape What is there For I can't find a way So here I sit In the place I lived a year ago Every day she traveled some distance After a while she grew tired of waiting And every time I saw her Her grace is angelic In times of old All through the world Then reborn A life Carrying at their For they know Captivity ends The horizon lights up The heat of the sun The trees shine bright All around me As the sun's fire So the trees are Into the wall A turn to the right Only then Always facing Facing everything Never once So again Up through the barren trees There upon the sky It's splendor Moon Your spell Moon Mystical place As the moon In bed I lay Many a time The writing Then I hear It's getting late In my room Stars filled It's late I think I will go to sleep Maybe I shouldn't So then I will sleep If I say my prayers Then sleep The sun is rising I close the blinds Into sleep A sleep I wake up Darkness will Upon the night In the night The night is mine Upon the streets There upon a In I came One bite Nothing ever Pulsing through A feeling Death is nearing Time to stop Death arrives Sky, to thee I call Why must you be so high Sky, your beauty Your clouds Filling me with fantastic Your color In shades so bright Vaster In the morning Never ending Sky, to thee Words unknown Do what ever you want in life Love for what you do But what ever you do When immersed Because life is happening Try not to forget It's life Insanity lives Insanity thrives Insanity is contagious This insanity Insanity lives In how we rule In our reason In every move Contains insanity Just to a Suppressing it Failing sometimes Insanity will live To thee Thy name For praise Tis late I give To thee For those who question Insanity breeds Insanity spreads Insanity claims Insanity is Moon above Moon again High above Changing shapes Moon above Wise Moon Coming only Upon the sky Birds I hear As clouds The clouds Turning Gray In the distance The sky once so blue Thunder crashes Still I Once so peaceful Now full of The wind The storm Subjecting the Wind, rain In the distance Breaking through The storm As light reclaims There goes by "I Don't Think I Want This Brain" What an evil Upon my shoulders For I do believe For the usefulness The thoughts it thinks For corruption I do wish to be Upon the hour Upon the time Upon the time Upon the time Ahhh! To dream is to explore
To dream is to survive.

With thoughts of love and kindness
To all a vision of peace
With words of love and kindness
To all a vision of peace
With actions of love and kindness
To all a vision of peace
With a heart full of love and kindness
To all a vision of peace
With a heart set on unity
To all a vision of peace
With a mind set on unity
To all a vision of peace
With a conscience set on unity
To all a vision of peace
A vision of peace.

JOEMS
Of the magnificent sun
Shine so brightly
Upon everyone
On the sparkling sand
Feel the greeting
Upon my hand
Of the relaxing sea
Crash so freely
For me to see
Reaching towards the sand
To my feet
Upon the land
Up above
Sing so magnificently
As to be one
Of the sun
On the beach.
JOEMS
To believe
To understand
One's mind
To be heard
One's thoughts
To be expressed
One's talent
To be used
One's life
From the hand
That was given
To be read.
JOEMS
There was a bird
That sung so beautifully
For it was always heard
The bird was on a branch in a tree
As it sang so beautifully
For me
As the bird sung in the tree
I said to the heavens
I wish the bird was human
Like me
The bird flew to me
Landed on my hand
And was human
Like me.
JOEMS
There grew such a flower
Of much beauty and fragrance
A flower of elegance
A flower of deep meaning
A flower of love
A flower with thorns
A flower of God
A flower of life
The Rose grows
Cherished through time,
Eternal.
JOEMS
As dusk nears
Magnificent colors
Fill the sky
Forming an unbelievable
Show of imagination
On behalf of the sun
As it nears
It's inevitable fate
Slowly releases it's life
Into the earth
Into the trees
Into the sky
Into life
Possesses such beauty
Breath-taking murals of color
That fill the night sky
Purple, blue, red, orange
Become what color
Was meant to be
Nothing can compare
With such a work of art
Slowly releases it's life
Life of color
Life of imagination
Life of hope
Life of forgiveness
Into the life of the night
A giant ball of fire
The answer for perfect bliss
Bliss of the moment
Bliss so relaxing
So relaxing as I sit
On a hill
Watching the setting sun
A long while ago
When I was small
A little kid
Watching the sunset
Watching it
Slowly approaching the ground
Swirling about
Running out
In all directions
Just to sit in admiration
To sit in wonder
To sit and think
To let go
To let go of everything
To let the life enter you
Enter your body
To enter through every pore
To enter through your hair, fingers
All over
And to let everything out
Good and bad
To become totally relaxed
To be in complete harmony
With nature
With yourself
With all that is around
Captures the heart and soul
Of those who watch
It swallows your being
Filling you with joy, happiness, and love
Swallows your pain and suffering
And enters your heart and soul
And grows in you
Keeps growing each time you watch
The magnificent colors
Flow all through you
Filling all the voids
Of your heart and soul
As it changes you
Improves you
But remains constant
Living in you
Growing till the next time
Just a little bit
Of the rays of life left
And the night starts to take over
There is just a little speck
Of the miracle left
Ever moving into the earth
Almost gone
It is time to leave
Time to move on
Until tomorrow
Until the next sunset
To be healed
Purified
Made one
Like a ritual
To be ever repeated
Day after day
Sunset after sunset
Till it is understood
What is meant
What is said
What to do.
JOEMS
Fill the night sky
As glowing orbs
Of fire
Burn with desire
This light of fire
Filled with hope and life
Are the history of life
Fascinations of night
A guide of light
Are objects
Of great beauty and sight
Objects of great tranquillity of Night
Objects of great dedication
To burn so bright
All of their lives
Are to be cherished
For life
As sources of heat
As sources of light
Fill the night sky
For now and forever
Lighting the sky
As a mystery of night.
JOEMS
Love of mine
That left my life
Without a choice
Of hers or mine
Enchants my heart
Makes it weary
From the sight
Of her beauty
Deserve not to see
Beyond comparison
Of any for me
That sparkled so bright
Up to the moment
She lost her fight
Her eyes
So full of life
I was lost
With just a sight
So golden brown
Flowing down about her shoulders
As I touch her hair
So silky and smooth
Shining so brightly in the sun
Never fell short
Of her love for life
Love from her heart
Comes straight from the heart
On and on
Heart to heart
Soul to soul
Till the day
We meet again
Our hearts one
Love of mine
My heart, my soul
My life, my world
My Love.
JOEMS
Love of mine
in my heart
And in my mind
Love of mine
Always there
By my side
Nothing can be compared
To thee
The love for thee
A love for which without
I want to cease to be
Is more important to me
Than anything else
You love me
Our love is the greatest
We are inseparable
Bounded by our love
You will always be
The great love of mine.
JOEMS
A man and his beloved
Had a love unlike
Most kind
Flourished over time
An endless love
Like mine
Endless as time
A love never ending
Never ending as mine
Unlike most kind
A mind totally devoted
To his bride
The ground she walked on
He cherished
The words she spoke
And him to her
He told her daily
Of his love
Never let me forget
How special you are to me
For if I was to lose you
I would be nothing without thee."
Took their vows
To love till the end of time
Love was most divine
A love never ending
A love like mine.
JOEMS
The stars love the sky
I love you like
The sea loves the land
A bee loves a flower
I love you like
The ground loves the rain
I love you like that
The planets love the sun
I love you like
A bird loves the wind
I love you like
Heaven loves the earth
I love you like that
Like none before
Love I have never felt before
Feelings I can not seem to show
With my love, my love forevermore
Please try understand my love
My love soars
I am nothing without you
I love you like that.
JOEMS
And thunder booms
A bright blue thunderbolt
Brightens the sky
As the sky turns dark
During the day
Droplets of rain
Drop from the dark sky
Forming muddy puddles
In the dirt of the road
And thunder booms
A bright blue thunderbolt
Brightens the sky
Down the street
As their clothes absorb the rain
Trees run rampant
In the raging wind
Lighting crashes
Strikes an old frightened tree
Snapping it in two
The storm passes
And thunder booms
As the clouds roll away
Revealing the radiant sun
Bright beams of brilliant light
Shine down upon the dead tree
Exposing the manifestation
Of new life to the sun.
JOEMS
Life is pure
A gift to be given
Forevermore
And never taken
A gift that is given
From the one above
And never taken
Life is to be lived
Through pain and suffering
Looking forward to a brighter day
In those yet to be born
And never to be thought of
As a choice at hand
That should never be taken
That was given to you
From God's mighty hand
Of yours or mine
But a gift from above.
JOEMS
While the moon shined bright
A child made a wish on a star
Which he made on that star
A wish that he had made
Exactly one year ago
According to the memory of his heart
As the wind
A wish as pure
As his heart
But only of few
A wish his grandpa had taught
A start of the cold
A call for the magic
That the heavens bestow
In times long past
A wish on a star
A wish of snow
Here's my wish to you
May the lands be covered
With blankets of white snow
May the fields be white
With the delicate shaped dust
May the winter be bright
And the heavens keep the chill upon us."
After he finished his verse
At the star in wonder
In hope of a sign
Brightened to the sight
And the child smiled
In utter delight.
JOEMS
He walked down the same streets everyday
Ate lunch at the same cafe
He was a nobody, a nothing
He left at seven
He drove a typical car
To his average job
With normal people
Everyday
From eight to six
At a orderly pace
He did his share and nothing more
Like he did everyday
At the end of the day
He faced the traffic
He faces everyday
At his routine time of seven-thirty
And ate his typical dinner at eight
Like he did everyday
And went to bed
As he usually did at ten
As he always had at six
Something was not normal
He drove his average car
To his average job
At his normal time
He did his daily work
But something was not right
At his typical cafe
Something was terribly wrong
But he did not head toward his job
He went somewhere
He had never been before
As he was instructed
Without knowing
Bought what was sold
He headed back toward work
He just sat and listened
As people stared
At this straight jacket man
He continued to listen
To the men around him
He continued to converse
In search for answers
In his hearse like automobile
He skipped dinner
Instead spoke
With the others not in sight
He then found his answer
The others all rejoiced
That twisted mind
Found a morbid purpose
Mind at rest
sanity not there
Voices at rest
To calls all around
His bed was cold
As a stone slab
He saw many frowns
Of his friends
Who death would entice
He would join them
And said, "My friends,
I am here beside you !"
By the voices within
To carry out the plan
That ever weighted his mind
He drove with death
At his side
Ever awaiting work
With a deadly demise
As he adds his
Vile of salvation
To the whisky surprise
To watch them die
With his unwound mind
John was there aside
Devising his insane story line
To keep his friends blind
But not refusing a shot
To join him in the hall
To take part in his toast
His tribute to death
As he passes out their fate
In the sepulcher like room
But first tells them
Please, take a drink
They foolishly drink
John raises his glass again
They frown and howl in pain
John says, "My friends,
I am here beside you !"
The deadly liquor
As his friends
Fall dead around him
Down his throat
They all cheer him on
"You did it, their all dead !"
It falls and shatters
He is suffering terrible agony
As the tainted whisky
Does it's job
The voices all cease
John is cold as ice
His mind no more
Now dead on his face
A man once sane
Whose mind took a brake.
JOEMS
And little toy trucks
Our parents were there
Beside us
We grew up in a flash
Our parents relentlessly
Trying to guide us
We were off the halls
Life was around us
Our dear parents
For the choice
This choice, this life
Still holding on
As our fathers cheered us on
To meet the challenges of each day
As lowly freshmen
We slowly strived
To shine bright as individuals
But we are one
We are friends
Beholding friendship
To help us along with
A saddened thought in mind
Now a young man
Ready for life
What happened to the time."
And offer a toast
The apple of their eyes'
Father's son, a fine young man
He now cherishes the time they had
We must embrace
All that we felt
The good and the bad
So much more by far
To our guardians
To our friends
Our parents.
JOEMS
That I hold most dear
The one thing in mind
Is that Christmas is here
Of getting things done
The decorations, the lights
The preparations, oh what fun
So full of love
The warmth of the family
Lighting up our lives
All covered in bright lights
Ornaments, all reflecting
Making such a sight
Fresh pine in the air
Nothing beats such a feat
As we decorate with care
Kids ever playing
Snowmen all around
As night time approaches
The children come in
For Christmas Eve dinner is ready
And the Christmas lights are turned on
On Christmas Eve night
To see the snow falling
Oh, what a sight
Of the fire, ever blazing
To feel the warmth
Of the family, ever amazing
As it burns bright
Roasting chestnuts
While enjoying the sight
All snug by the fire
To hold hands as a family
And sing Christmas Carols
Fills my mind
As the thought
That it is Christmas time.
JOEMS
I have no purpose
God left me worthless
I know not, I am weak
This blasphemy that I speak
That what I write
Is what I sought
The poet.
JOEMS
Who made a mistake
And stated, "The Devil take him!"
He wished this upon
Was taken from life
And sent down to Satan
Except just more annoying
Than most
Was running off
And with a smirk
He began to mock him
His sanity flew
And his mouth let out the words
"The Devil take him!"
The blink of an eye
He was gone forever
Forever with the Devil
Use your brain
Don't accidentally say,
"The Devil take him!"
JOEMS
Who lived on the streets
He was poor as can be
A beggar was he
He lived in rags
Not a cent to his name
For everything he got, he begged
He came upon a baby crying
He picked it up,
And searched for it's mother and father
To which he just found
Or so he thought
The parents were really loaded
And then celebration did break out
For he was honored and called
The man of the hour
So they took him
And he was mighty happy
And a bum no more
And so much more
He was confused with this life
So he took all he could
Like a prince was he
Meals always at hand
Bed as soft as can be
But forgot the old
And the others like him
On the streets
And looked upon as a hero
But he became greedy
And continued to want more
He was selfish as can be
Corrupted by the money
Could stand him no more
For he was stealing
What was not given
Was thrown right out
With nothing but the rags he had.
JOEMS
(Based on Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven")
Under a quiet and cloudy sky above, field and home,
While I landed, nearly crashing, I saw a man nodding, napping,
And then I began tapping, tapping as he awoke, no longer napping
The sound of someone gently rapping, rapping upon his bedroom door.
"Tis some person, he muttered, "tapping at my bedroom door-
Only this, and nothing more."
I saw him standing, as the light cast shadows on the floor.
Eagerly I forbade the morrow; vainly I had sought his sorrow
For my effort to increase his sorrow- sorrow for his lost Lenore-
For the lovely maiden- whom death did explore.
Haunted here for evermore.
Thrilled him- filled him with wonderful terrors, he would now explore;
So that now, I could hear his heart beating, as he stood repeating,
"Tis some person entreating entrance at my bedroom door-
Some late person entreating entrance at my bedroom door;-
This it is, and nothing more.
"Sir," said he, "or Ghost, your forgiveness I implore;
But I was napping, and you came gently rapping, please leave my door!
For I wish to sulk in sorrow, sorrow for my lost Lenore,
That I scarce was sure I heard you"-- here he opened wide the door;-
Darkness there, and nothing more.
Doubting, dreaming dreams his mind dared not to explore;
But the silence was unbroken, and intended to keep him sulking,
The only word there spoken was the whispered word, "Lenore!"
This he whispered, and darkness only echoed back the word, "Lenore!"-
Only this, and nothing more.
Soon again I tapped somewhat louder than before.
"Surely," said he, "there has to be something at my window, knocking:
Let me see, now, what is knocking, and this mystery explore-
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;-
'Tis the wind and nothing more."
In I stepped upon the sill, and in I kept without a still;
Not the least obeisance made I; not a minute stopped or stayed did I;
But, with power of lord or lady, I perched above his bedroom door-
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above his bedroom door-
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
By the grave and disturbing mourning, his mind was now unfolding
"Though thy be born of Raven, thou," he said, "art sure no Raven,
Ghastly grim and ancient wandering spirt from the Nightly shore-
Tell me what thy ghastly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore !"
And I said, "Nevermore."
Though my answer gave little meaning-much relevancy it bore;
For I cannot help enjoying that no raven ever knowing
Yet was blest with seeing a disturbed man engaged in ranting,
This I say is the beginning, and now my mind he will explore
Plotting, Evermore.
Nevermore, as I enraptured his soul lost in mourning
Nothing further then he uttered-not a feather then I fluttered-
Till he then did mutter something of friends and forgotten lore
Leaving me still, there conceiving what I then conceding
As I then repeated, "Nevermore."
As then he continued staring, sitting and considering my soul spoken
As he spoke, I stared, not listening, my eyes fully piercing,
Eyes so black as I burned him longer, as he stared ever harder,
His soul was mine and lost to him forevermore
As I then muttered, "Nevermore."
As he wheeled a cushioned seat in front of I, bust, and door;
Then he upon the cushion sinking, I pondered what he was thinking
Thinking about me, an ominous bird of yore, as he stared without blinking-
What I, a grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking "Nevermore."
My fowl fiery eyes now burned into his bosom's core;
This and more I sat divining, In my head I finally deciding
As the lamplight kept on shining on the cushion's velvet lining,
But upon this velvet violet lining with the lamplight shining,
His illusions defining, and his mind wants more
My deception draged on longer, as his ranting grew stronger.
"Bird," he cried, "thy Night hath lent thee- by the Devil, he hath sent thee
Remove- remove and wash thee, from thy memories of Lenore !
Drink, oh, drink this kind Lethe and forget this lost Lenore !"
Quoth I, "nevermore."
Whether the Devil he sent, or whether he tossed thee here ashore."
To me he calls, he calls these words of evil- am I enchanted by the Devil-
This I not- no Devil control me, I am unholy, bird of yore-
"Is this home by evil haunted?- tell me- tell me, I implore!"
Quoth I, "Nevermore."
By these words, he offends thee- Now my fun, I implore-
No Devil hath sent thee, to ever haunt, For your insanity, I implore!
"Remind me not of the angelic maiden whom death did explore-
That clasp my lovely maiden whom death did implore."
Quoth I, "Nevermore."
"leave thee from thy bust and door-Release thy firm grasp I have endured
Leave thy home though hath invaded, back onto the Nightly shore!
Leave my loneliness unbroken!- quit the bust above my door!"
I just sat there in anger-For my forgiveness he must now implore!
Quoth I, "Nevermore."
On this pallid bust of Pallas just above his bedroom door;
And my eyes convey seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamplight ever streaming throws my shadow on the floor;
And his soul from out that shadow is trapped on the floor
Shall be lifted- nevermore!
Setting, setting on the velvet cushion, for his sense is no more;
Mind and body, no longer conversing, by I, bird of yore-
I succeeded- his mind and soul enraptured, Lost in the sorrow;
My life, I live now and forever upon this bust above his door
Insane here- Evermore!
JOEMS
That flows
Flowing for many years
Flowing through the land
And through the woods
Is where this river flows
I could be found
Down at the river
No matter the time
Or the weather outside
By the bank
I traveled through time
Or of the people
But of the river
Throughout time
Always there
The cold of winter
And the heat of the summer
Of land and animals
No man around
And tranquillity
Harmony with all
With all around
Dependent on each other
My travel begins
I see a dream
Of a time of life
The river in harmony
Peaceful at heart
So perfect
Lost in thought
Entranced by my thoughts
With the river
Flowing so graceful
Even purifying
My mind refreshed
To the power it contains
To the thoughts it portrays
Nature, now so beautiful
As the river flows
Through mind and soul
At the river
As it flows.
JOEMS
Round the world
Bore one wish at mind
Never to die
A life eternal
For the secret he sought
To be an Immortal mortal
His journey took him
Across many mountains
He went searching
And the Far East
To the far reaches of the world
And stories of all kinds
Fountains and
Even some bizarre rituals
He sought the oldest men
Even everyone around him
Translated scrolls
Studied art of all kinds
Seemed to work
Except to instill
False hope in his heart
Near the end
For death was approaching
He was at a dead end
He realize
How easily Immortality
Is achieved
And stories
Told through time
In the minds of human beings.
JOEMS
I am not sure anymore
As hostilities grow in Bosnia
To keep the peace
Since when do troops equal peace
Continue to destroy themselves
Brother against brother
Innocence is gone
For the people
Or for ourselves
I ask myself
As long as some live
To intercede
To take sides
In Bosnia
Where we want peace to be
Is this the North and South
All over again
Is this Vietnam
Are we interfering
To fight
Have we gone mad
Or theirs at hand
As the bombs drop
Over the land
Our troops down in the hills
Families cry
Is another World War at hand
Do we base this on
An impulsive man
That contains
The mistakes of man
When minds have been set
And terrorists begin to attack
Who is wrong or right
Certainly not I
And Presidents
And organizations all around
There has been enough slaughtering
So we can slaughter some more
Is peace a word.
JOEMS
The weather changes
Soon I hope it will snow
It is cold outside
So where is the snow ?
Day in and day out
Waiting for the snow
As I lay to sleep that night
That it would happen, tonight
From the heavens above
Upon the trees and rooftops
The holidays now right
For the snow has arrived.
JOEMS
A song is heard
By those who listen
Is the harmony
Of Nature
The secrets
Of the land
The land, the trees
The birds of the sky
To the trees
As a breeze blows
Of animals
At night
The song
Of the Earth.
JOEMS
The sun shining down
The wind whipping
The tall grass around
Nor the wind blowing by
In this place of illusion
As birds fly by
As I looked all around
In the distance I see
Is where my feet took me
Swaying in the wind
Under it I sat
As the sun came down.
In the forest that day
Told me a known truth
By man's own hand
Abusing all of nature
Mankind put in this world
You poison us to death
Align the reality
As did this mental escapade
What can I do?
The problem is so big
Urges at hand
Protect our future
Save our planet.
JOEMS
On Christmas Day
While I nodded
In my chair
But in the future
The time I'm not sure of
Decorated with lights
The city was beautiful
Walking here and there
Buying gifts for one another
All bordered up
Really showing it's age
What the building was
They were all over the city
I was in a house
The family gathered round a tree
This must be Christmas Eve night
The birth of Jesus Christ
By people that night
Was Season's Greetings
For under the tree
There was no nativity scene
I don't recall seeing anything
Dealing with the true meaning of Christmas
An old man on the street
Came as quite a surprise
Some years back
Religion was outlawed
Was that everybody forgot
What was the true meaning of Christmas
When no one cared
And it was then outlawed
Frightened in my chair
As I remembered it was a dream
When I came to my senses
As I pondered the dream
From Heaven this day
Would he feel at home.
JOEMS
Here Again
Looking through a window
Going out
And walking in the sun
Of my yard
As a breeze is blowing by
I'm locked up here
As life passes by
A limited view
And never the full picture
What others do
What I'll never do
From this view
Nothing at all better
To look forward too
My life might as well end
To get beyond
This obstacle I'm stuck behind
Here Again
Looking through a window.
JOEMS
In a cabin within the trees
There is an angel there whom I love
By the name of Anna Marie
On this path through the trees
There at the end is where she would be
By the river, relaxing, waiting for me
Waiting patiently for me
And she would walk up and down
This river within the trees
Walking within the trees
My heart would beat faster
As I thought of her and me
As she walks to me
Her beauty I Envision
My love, Anna Marie.
JOEMS
When myths were told
Some men were born
Throughout time
These select reside
Men as normal
Till death arrived
To the Earth
Now with
Immortal lives
They follow
Till none
But one survives
Sides a sword
a quick swing
To the neck
That there
Can be
Only one.
JOEMS
There up through the trees
It rises, In the distance
The sun is released
As the sun rises higher
The cold wind blows
The snow on the ground
Warms the bitter air
As I travel
Up through the woods
All covered in ice
As it reflects
The light in my eyes
Is a sight to behold
The sunlight
Dances on the ice
Melts the ice
I hope night comes soon
To recapture the sun
Beautifully
All covered in ice
Once again.
JOEMS
He stumbles back
Into the wall
Again he stumbles back
Forward again
Not stopping
Until he hits the wall
To change direction
And hit again
Obstacles
Unavoidable
And nothing
No control
Thinking
Just doing
Into the wall
He stumbles back.
JOEMS
And the black of night
The moon hangs
All through the night
It's light does shine
Giving life
To darkness and gloom
And color
A work of night
And light
Enchanter
Master
Of night
You cast
On the stars
In the sky
Enraptured
In an aurora
Of light
Is the Earth
At night
Watches over
The mysteries
Of night.
JOEMS
In the neon light
Thinking of something
To write
Late a night
I add a line
To a poem
I can't read
Only lines
I see
A meow from behind
My cat pounces
To say Good night
And I can't see
What I write
In this blasted
Neon light.
JOEMS
Above my head
All at night
My universe
Glows bright
With a charge
Of light
They shine bright
The universe
In my room.
JOEMS
And I'm awake
Should I go to sleep
But what if I have
Bad dreams
But maybe I'll
Have good dreams
But Then again
Should I sleep
For nightmares I fear
To God above
For good dreams
To night
Peaceful
Will I
All night.
JOEMS
The light shining
Now is the time to sleep
Prepare for bed
Avoiding the morning light
I enter
Like the dead
Like no other
Fully enlivening
the sun is setting
Night is approaching
Once again
Rule the Earth
I pounce
As a playful cat
I bite
As a frothing bat
For I am
Death of life
I travel
For a morsel of life
Darkened alley
A couple I spot
From the sky
A Devilish feast
Then another
Life so pure
Tasted so
Heavenly
My veins
Fresh blood
Known only
To me
Beating of the heart
Now fading
Before death
Taints the blood
Claiming two more
Victims of Night Life.
JOEMS
Where all the birds are
Come down to me
Here on the ground
Is amazing to me
In all your splendor
Never stopping
Murals of white
Visions
I love
A blue unknown
Never ending
Than any sea
Your glory is seen
Afternoon
And night
Fascination
Full of life
A revelation
Is your beauty
Otherwise
They do not justify.
JOEMS
But heed this
Is were you will find
True happiness
You must never
Become to entangled
In your work.
Life you miss out on
Not knowing
What you miss
All around
Even if you don't See it
To poke your head up
Once in awhile
If you don't watch out
It will pass you by.
JOEMS
Here in my writing
Within my words
As you read on
Will sneak in
In life
And judge
And decisions
And action
For all are insane
Different degree
Than some
Through life
Losing control
Just a struggle
Of control.
JOEMS
I quoth
This ode
To nothing
Hath upon
My mind
To my lips
Forth due
To thee
I give
But not
Forgotten
Here is
Thee honor
For all
Thou are
I partake in
This ode
To nothing.
JOEMS
My insanity
You have not questioned
Something I already have
In those who believe
Insanity controls
Those who lose control
In those who listen
Insanity reaps
Those who get lost
Those who despair
Insanity loves
Those who give up
Questionable
In all but those
Who accept it.
JOEMS
Coveter of the sun's light
Guide the course
Of this night
Giver of tainted light
Power unknown
Full at night
Burned in the sky
Unnaturally
Glowing
Not fully visible
Moving around
Not always there
What do you bestow
Knowledge, secrets
All unknown
Watcher of man
Are we specks
Just under you
At night
As always
Mystical Moon.
JOEMS
I gaze upon
Under the tree
Near by
Sing to me
Drift by
Endlessly
Color Changing
Overtaking the others
And too dark
For me
Lighting strikes
But no response
Now so black
For this storm
Will overtake me
Gaze upon
The clouds
Innocence
In the sky
Sound and fury
As rain pours down
I feel
Whipping around
Raging wild
Encompassing the sky
Land to its
Fury
Thunder and Lighting
All around
A small, growing
Ray of light
The black mass
Of the sky
Now passing
Soon to be by
What it had
Only a while ago
The last of
The Gray clouds.
JOEMS
Contraption
My head
That houses
This brain
It's time is up
Now I want another
Was here and gone
And now it is just waste
I do not own
Nor do I want
I believe has leaked in
And now mutiny
Rid of this brain
Upon my shoulders.
JOEMS
Of my awakening
Approaches the
Time to get up
To get up
Approaches the
Time to dress and bathe
To dress and bathe
Approaches the
Time to eat
To eat
Approaches the
Time to leave
Forget it
I'm going back
To sleep!
JOEMS
The Sun
Rises and sets
A time
So has
The Moon
A simple reason
For such a
Thing to happen
An event
Now taken
For granted
In times
Long past
This chase took place
Then honored
The Sun and Moon
As gods.
Between
For such an event
That we live by.
JOEMS
I live
I write to you
By each passing day
Life is getting better
Will carry on
And never cease to exist
Continue to write
My life lives on and on.
JOEMS
Blue
I honor you
Very unique
And beautiful
I have seen
But none quite like you
You bear
Only the better
And reverence
You deserve
By God above
To color the sky
The oceans too
Of mystery
Yet enlightening
Of sadness
Yet uplifting
You
I cherish.
JOEMS
Is the place of the man of shadows
Blending into the night as he is
Living upon the dark and feeding on fear
Lurking and surviving till the sun goes down
Now is the time to wake from sleep
Darkness is coming upon the land
A slave of the sun and light
Awaiting exile into the dark eternal night.
JOEMS
The road you been walking
Is mighty
And long
Must you travel it all alone
Isn't there
You can stop, return home
Come on home
And try a different road.
JOEMS
Has crowded
My mind
The knowledge
Of the arrival
Of death soon
Has taken form
A slow killer
Patiently waiting
Are mighty
But slow
Devours you
A useless fight
A family-all loving
Losing a member
Why must it be
Alone
In this world
Not whole
To be said
Other than
Nothing at all
To ponder
Knowing Death
And his effects
Of doing nothing
You can not stop it
Coursing through you
Flesh and blood
Well before his time
Soon to be no more
Time on this Earth
We have
Ever shortened
Must run
Through
That mind
Ever nears
And the family
Gathers near
To know one's death
And can do nothing
But watch
The lives
Of loved ones
Continuing-without you
How could this
Happen
Not Yet.
JOEMS
To make it flow is of little task
For the idea is formed and flowing
Now it only needs to be written
Is the constant revision after revision
Then it is finished and you then
Revise some more.
JOEMS
Soaring high among the clouds in the sky
Piercing rays of the sun shine heavenly by
The feeling of flight in the sky
Gracefulness of the wings repeating cycle
As the feathers unite as one in flight
A tint of blue to shame the bluest of eyes
Together as one a work of art
In search of the path to travel
Together, Dream Guide and I, into dreams forever.
JOEMS
Hovering mystically slow
Fires upon the sky
Order in precession
Like souls awaiting judgement
Happy and joyful
Alternating all throughout
Radiant and glowing
Spears protruding in a circle round
With a very sharp tip
As those of a Jester's cap
These are as blades
Coming to a point
On the half sphere
Are subdued faces
Expressions of content
And followed by sorrow
No particular aim above
In an arcing fashion
Never once stopping
Glowing all day and night
Marching here forever
Fire's army Eternal.
JOEMS
Little specs of light I spy
There in contrast to the darkness is thy light
As angels to guide life at night
Protecting and watching from the vastness above
Wondrous map for traveler by night
Chart of light, precision in flight
Life contained in the light
Giving it's self so life can live on
More than just life giving
A complex being, as us, but fire
Familiar with life, supporting and loving,
Constant in the lives of life
Never to leave our lives
Never to be alone, look above, the night sky.
JOEMS
To know. . .to recognize. . .to understand,
A emotion. . .A hand. . .A life,
To believe. . .to enjoy. . .to lie,
A given. . .a gift. . .a thought,
To use. . .to love. . .to feel,
Feeling
Running rampant through the body
Uncontrollable, overpowering,
through the mind, heart, and soul.
JOEMS
Moving to move, with fear
Lost completely in the blackness
In front of me, darkness moving
Or are my eyes going awry
Nothing good, my mind fears, as I wonder on
Noises now I think I hear
Only darkness here, there, everywhere
I'm going mad, I want out of here
Others, no, many are here
Stuck within the darkness
Just a direction to go
Again, controlled by the darkness.
JOEMS
Fall, cut, cry
Are you all right
Knee, wound, bleed
Pain, lie, smile
Are you sure
Giggle, limp, pain
Listen, nod, believe
Life goes on
Innocent always suffer.
JOEMS
Ringing all too loud
Attack all around
Please noise end
In this head
I'm trying to sleep
I want to sleep.
JOEMS
This is what I had in mind
All the year round
Thriving, never dying
Flying through the air
Of flowers so fair
Now and always there
Soaring all through the sky
At peace, a unity with the sky
All empty inside
Revelation of emotions inside
Pulsing through, gaining meaning
Together, devoted as one.
JOEMS
Gloom and fear take lead
No color anywhere
I wish to move, but not my feet
I can not feel my feet
Paranoia strikes my heart
As I hear nothing, no sounds
The hallway moves around
As I now fall down
Disorientation surrounding
All around on the ground
Paralysis striking my mind
Will I make it through the hallway
Obstacles to my success
Stumbling back and forth
There at the end is reality
Or is it just an escape.
JOEMS
When ones contemplates
does one contemplate life
Or contemplate death
And just one or them all
And what about God
Or is it gods
In all their glory
Or are they flaws
Of a weak man
In life, in love, in it all
Or why not in justice
But which one should be picked
Is there a difference after all
And how about this poem
Does it deserve contemplation.
JOEMS
But no specs I see there
Mistaken am I not, for I do hear
But see them unfortunately I do not
Rain I assume is falling down
For I know it can't be snow
But the wind is whipping around
One must assume, if one can't prove
That the rain is falling down
Because who at night sees dark clouds
Or the rain that is coming down.
JOEMS
Is it this, that I write
These words that sometime unite
A train of thought, an interest
It is the truth from the heart
Only to come out when touched
An insight to life
Thoughts living as words
Gift of the mind and heart
Sharing your soul in words.
JOEMS
The intangibles of life
Haunt man and woman
Ensure such intangibles
To their life
Permanent to people
Can we live in peace
That plagues the world
In our daily lives
Passing judgment on others
Ending all prejudice
Be so common that it is not given
A second thought by anybody
These intangibles to man
Or will we only struggle.
JOEMS
Through the white turning black
With my writing utensil
In this escapade of ink
Upon this blank white page
That stimulates the imagination
Of man, woman, and child
That causes one boredom
And collects dust on a shelf
Manifestations of my mind on paper
Hopefully more masterpieces than flops.
JOEMS
Nurturing is a part of love
Love is a part of man
Man is a part of others
Others is a part of family and friends
Family and friends are a part of healing
With the love and nurture
Of family and friends
Man will always heal.
JOEMS
If we're not here
Our thoughts may cross
What we had here
If it was strong enough
On some on the nights
Through the air
Now it's no longer here
Of what was lost
Then only on a few days
Other stabs in the heart
But why does it hurt so much
Or only failed attempts in history
It all completely
And completely lost
And friends like thee
What's offered to me
You can't talk for free
The way it used to be
It's not going to be
And what out friendship could be
Over the miles and time
Of voices over wire
And notes through the air
I don't wanna lose
To ensure that
It will all work out
Our friendship is strong.
JOEMS
Causing man to act
It influences
Causing the mind to think
To begin recalling images
That activity happens so fast
Mind overwhelmed
Striking every man
Strong or weak
The mind invaded
Face the fear
Others hide
Hope fear does not find them
One cannot run from fear
Once you start running
Fear will always win
If one learns from it
Man grows from it
Making him better than before
To live with fear
Deal with it as it arises
And not let it overcome him.
JOEMS
No aim
A journey
No destination
That goes nowhere
Into the trees
Fresh air everywhere
Are the ones
That you don't remember.
Just to move
Letting go of it all
Letting in the peace
I think not
Only the nature
All around
The trees
Life surrounding all
To the land
That was here before man
A completeness
Happiness within
Ready for life again
A refreshing walk.
JOEMS
But who is to say what next
A child is to be raised
A child loses their innocence
Much to fast
In their teens
Our world, today
That many adults do
Carefreeness gone forever
What right do we have?
Will we ever stop? Face our problems?
Eye to eye, and tell them it is their problem.
JOEMS
Determines the way it's lived
By examples shone
Is the sight of happiness
As something special
Something to be cherished
Something important
Things are common
Blending in with all
Only part of a routine
Actually listening to the music
Instead of just hearing it
The simplicity still here
Life would be different
The way man lives
Everything would change
A place in the middle
To balance it all
To take time out
Look through the eyes of the innocent.
JOEMS
Separated by a border
That is very thin
Why love borders hate
In the mind of man
With these flaws
Only causing pain
A challenge
A test of love
Turning two people against each other
As if nothing was ever there
Than two people filled with hate
Love is the answer
At opposite ends
But still connected
The emotions high
Opposite attract
Power over the mind
Power to control.
JOEMS
When I broke down and cried
The hurt I felt inside
Your impersonal goodbyes
There was the truth disguised
Insensitive disguise
The hurt thrives
Tearing up your insides
Causing you to live a lie
Let it all be free
Let nothing hide
The insensitive lies
Let your heart be the guide.
JOEMS
I find myself
I see it all
I am complete
I find meaning
It makes sense
I end my searches
I see the answers
To all my questions
My mind realigns
My soul revives
In a world of searches
In your life.
JOEMS
Search for what we have
Turn down what we see
Look for the fantasy
Question what we have
Look for something better
That there is more out there
To try to get the best
Not to settle for what you have
To only better ones self
Live to gain, little on give
Is it time to stop?
Is what we hope to find?
Worth the dedication to search
Sacrificing what we have
To find the unknown
To truly see what we have
To appreciate what we see
Recognizing the true value
Rejoice in what you have
Time to give up the fruitless search.
JOEMS
A statement of emotion
Our just words
For a true to love
Then dedicate their lives
On something that borders pain
In the possible path of destruction
the emotional rampage
They mean more than anything
You would do anything for them
To save their love from harm
The true meaning for the word love
A commonly heard phrase
Signifying nothing
In the little things one does
The people their when you need them
To the eyes that search
Only then does it find you.
JOEMS
Wash away the pain
Cleanse the mind of thought
Life is to short
To sulk on and on
This is a new life, a chance
And the sun comes forth
You can now shine too.
JOEMS
Is a bloody
Yell for help
"Let war end finally"
Screams misinterpreted
And blood shed
Promises of safety
The diplomat's turn
A wordy nothing is made
Is it not just a break time
To rest, to prepare
The treaties signed
Hands shook
The weary minds of those
Who have lost it all
The government that's on paper
Is not the one who has power
In a world ridden with violence
For all to see.
JOEMS
The sky is blue
The sun is shining
The outlook of today is bright
To what I see
Depends on the outlook for me
And what I do
Varies my outlook from you
And petty thought
I can see a path
As a vast ocean
Of thought and view
As though out of the blue
For me and you.
JOEMS
We all fall down
Upon the hard ground
Trying to gain control
Recover without notice
Always trying
Man will succeed
Only strengthen
Preparing for all
The path is ruff
Man is stronger
The journey ends
A endless tic of time
A way to go
Never give in
Man improves
Out doing the one before.
JOEMS
The trees rustle about
Smell of autumn fills the air
A serenity of lethargy overcomes
Relaxing of the mind and body
The final act of an annual show
Grand finale of color
Appealing to the heart
Reacting with the autumn air
The seasonal show of the land
A sign fortelling the winter to come
The leaves coming to the end
The brown curtain overtakes them.
JOEMS
Down the street
Every light is on
Looking out the window
Remembering the past
That went through the door
Hoping is all that is left to live for
Now he is too late
His words not forthcoming
His pride was to strong
Steered his heart wrong
Before she walked out the door
He would leave a light on
Hoping her love continues on
Follow her heart back home.
JOEMS
Little light upon the night
Trying to light your way
Moving all around
Slowly they came together
Burning bright as one
A big flame lighting the way
Not just a candle in the dark
A family, light for all.
JOEMS
To this time and place
A woman far from home
She has graced this Earth
This day in fact
She shall accomplish
In her journey in life
To the ones
She knows and loves
Shall be cast
Upon her by all
Is cast upon all
In her presence
To warm her heart
Lighting her eyes
Ever more complete
As time marches on
As that angelic smile
That graces her face
Fair maiden, shine bright
And let your heart take flight.
JOEMS
That eats away and affects the mind
Sad in mind, in thought, in word
Life that seems gone or absorbed
A constant ache is felt within
Will it ever in this life subside
And the heart that loved
In pieces it lay, ripped into two
And here am I, with this way
All and more still confused
Totally within and unamused
The unconscious at work
The want to awake and find
This pain a nightmare
Then realize in mind
The pain will continue to lurk
Deep in the bowels
Attacking any thought
Letting nothing go untouched
Escape its deep rift
And here I shall remain, bound.
JOEMS
Worked there way through my mind
My heart they captivated and tied
Then they slowly snuck inside
What enchantments that were cast, arise
As they intertwined your thoughts and mine
The shine of a new light, my mind will find
Building and constructing an image by design
A link to the heart through the mind
The false image is cast in light not divine
All that arose to defy this lie
Inflicted no harm unto this blind line
We felt a love and thought it divine
But it stayed stuck to mine
Left me confused and sad
And I felt like I could die.
JOEMS
To the breeze in the air
Nothing more
Made my heart prepare
For the feast this night
To avoid a pinch
And wondered what desert
Would make me beg
For just another inch
With a scoop of ice cream
Or maybe aunt Jean's
Blueberry supreme
Topped with homemade whip cream
I'll get my fill
Oh, cornbeef you fit the bill
With cabbage on top
Oh, do I love Saint Pat's Day.
JOEMS
Darkness instead of light
Closede pose te, anarose me
Death instead of life
Closede, pose te, anarose me
What was once sane
Is backward in mind
Declose, te pose, me anarose
Sense is illusionary
Confusion is devine.
JOEMS
Autumn reminiscent of summer
The air is cool and morning bright
Going over what once was night
Leaves falling as they might
The grass is dying and here I'm laying
Birds take off in flight
mind reminiscent and more numb
Thought abating, memory fading
Mind benighted and REM egnighted
Have a peak, a little sneak
Derive the images that I seek
When I slumber mind is weak.
JOEMS
Stopped in thought
That which is not easily fought
Mind is skidding
Fading, the image lost
I am lost
Where focus is forever sought
has plagued my mind
Killing all prospective thought
Just enough to keep me in power
keeping me going with this thought.
JOEMS
Hazy light
Came upon the darkest night
Hazy thought
Clear image is what I sought
Hazy sight
From the darkness came a light
Hazy smog
Slowly raising above my head
Mind still choking
Unable to focus in thought
Beam is longer
Coming through the night
Becoming clearer
A lazer in flight.
JOEMS
Was the step I took one I could
Did I choose to take this action
Or controlled by an unknown faction
IN WORK !!
